Some chips are a ceramic/resin (which when dropped on a tile floor will break). Ours are a injected plastic with a metal slug in the middle to give it weight. Your Vegas wedding chips are comparable to the chips that are used in casinos. They weigh 11.5 grams each and are 40 mm in diameter.
